Yesterday I made a comment that I had only one loyal reader who happens to be my mom. Well, it turns out that I have more that one and I don't even think that my mom reads my blog! Oh well. Maybe one day she will. (tear slowly rolls down cheek.)
Other wise things are going well for us. We are in Michigan spending time with Laura, Sean, Emma and Carter. It has been great to see them and spend time with family. I have been able to play softball, were I had one of those awesome outfield collisions with a man about 60 pounds heavier than me, and also a little bit of golf. But the best part has been watching Grace and Carter interact with each other. If you would like to see some pictures of all of this than go to Amy's blog and Laura's Blog.
Stat/Opinion of the Day
Today I am going to introduce a new part to my blog. Some days I will have a stat and other days it will be my opinion of the day. Today has to do with the with the awful story of the professional wrestler Chris Benoit. This is horrible and will hopefully be a lesson for many athletes, kids and talking heads. As you can read in the story the police are suspecting 'Roid Rage as the reason why Benoit may have snapped and committed this awful crime. So, what can we learn lesson for this? Whenever an athlete, like Shawne Merriman or Rafael Palmeiro, test positive for steroids all we hear from the genius sportswriters and talking heads at certain sports stations telling us how awful it is that these athletes CHEATED. Cheating is not the issue here. Yes, they are cheating and no one should ever be under the impression that cheating is ever tolerated in any form, BUT this should be the least of everyones concerns.
The largest issue with the use of Steroids is the many health concerns. There is a fantastic article about this on WebMD. Within this article we learn that youth today are using them at an alarming rate and by the time teenagers are in high school, seniors are using them at a high percentage of 4%. This may not sound high, but just think that there is 100,000 High School Seniors in the United States than that would mean 4,000 Seniors are using steroids today. And why are they using? My opinion is that no one talks about the health concerns that come with using steroids and when they do it is in jest. Instead of hearing the talking heads speak of the many of what an athlete like Barry Bonds may be doing do their body, one hears these experts laughing about the size of his head and praising his ability. When Shawne Merriman, the great defensive player from the San Diego Chargers, tested positive for Steroids last season what was the lesson that Americas youth learned? They learned nothing. Not only was Merriman hardly slapped on the extremely large wrist, but he was placed in the leagues All-Star game and NO ONE talked about what he was doing to his body. Once again a teaching opportunity was missed and the numbers of high schoolers who thought using steroids was fine and their way to the pro's rose.
Now, we have the opportunity to teach the youth, athletes and the talking heads an important lesson. A professional wrestler killed his wife and son and then killed himself. When the police searched his house they found steroids. We all know that a very large percentage of professional wrestlers use this drug. Now one of there stars is dead and so is his family and 'Roid Rage is what caused him to lash out. Now is the time for the talking heads to come together and do more than talk. Now they can think and teach. And that is my opinion.

Here we go...
I am not sure if any of my loyal readers, (by that I mean my mom), are wondering what PapiHeel stands for. Well, I am a huge Red Sox fan and the best hitter on the Sox is David Ortiz whose nickname is Big Papi. The second part of the name is for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels. In about 2 months I will start attending UNC for graduate school and will now be a Tar Heel. SO, if you but them together you get PapiHeel. Creative, huh?
Stat of the Day:
.191 Batting Average, .256 On Base Percentage, 9 Errors (but at least Jeter has 12) and $9 Million a year
That is the line for the Red Sox starting ShortStop. Please someone can explain to me how a first place team can have everyday player you hits and fields like this. Oh well.

Let's Give This A Try
Here we go. I have long thought that blogging could be an interesting thing to do and with our move to North Carolina it would be a good way to keep people posted on the comings and goings in the life of the Carters. If you want the truth about what is going on then the best place to is to Amy's blog...essenceofamy.blogspot.com. But if you want exaggerations and insanity than stop in here! I am not sure how often I will post anything lengthy but I will attempt have one thing everyday and that is the Stat of the day.
Stat of the Day:
1-2, 5.09 ERA...$28 Million
That is the right....the first stat of the day is the Roger Clemens record and the worth it salary that that Yankees are paying to have that ace on their staff. Gotta love it.
