I have an important question...
I have not really picked a candidate yet, although I am getting pretty close. But, I do have a question...WHY DOES EVERYONE HATE JOHN MCCAIN?? And please don't tell me it is because he is not conservative enough.(I know that someone is going to write that to be funny) That is an awful reason not to like someone. I feel like all we do is complain that we always have a president that is too partisan. "Clinton was too liberal, Bush is too conservative...I want a president who will be an actual moderate." Isn't that was people say? And now McCain is the front runner for the Republican party and people cannot stand him because he is NOT CONSERVATIVE ENOUGH!!! Trust me on this, having Ann Coulter come against is not that bad. It may actually be the reason he is the front runner. Anyway, please give me an actual, logical reason why everyone hates John McCain. I am really curious.

Because he's old! Just Kidding!
That is why he won Florida! He is there same age!
Because he's not . . .
"Fired up . . . Ready to Go!"
"Yes We Can"
"Change"
Because he is . . .
"Grumpy"
"Short"
"A Mexican Lover"
"A Wife Cheater"
I have no problem with John McCain.
But I am fired up and ready to go!
I got nothin'. It baffles me too. If Obama doesn't get the nod, I'll vote for McCain and sleep very soundly.
Sam, This is the EXACT question that Alison and I have posted on other people's blogs bashing McCain. I have yet to hear a really good reason (and very few good reasons). Some reasons that I have heard are that he has a horrible temper (not a dealbreaker in my book), is a womanizer (has had multiple affairs) or that he has too many connections to big business and that he's one of the "good 'ol boys".
I don't mind him one bit (never have) and one reason I respect him is because he is supported by Governor Huntsman (who I like). Alison's sister had a friend that worked in his office on Capitol Hill (obviously secondhand info here) and she hates him because "he was the most vile, nasty and power hungry person that she had ever met."
I'd definitely like to know what everybody's beef is as well.
I'm cool with McCain. I worry some that he won't do a very good job with the economy, but then again, he might do a good job. Who knows? I feel pretty OK about him getting the republican nomination.
Hey Sam! It's Cory Martin. Shiree showed me your link through Amy's blog.
I've got to give props to McCain because he is a more moderate Republican and can woo the undecided and the independent vote. However, my beef with McCain is that he is too maverick. He'll make decisions because he thinks they are the right ones regardless of what everyone else thinks. Granted, we don't want a President who only listens to other people, but we don't want someone who swings the pendulum the other way and doesn't listen to anyone. But I think the biggest reason that I am having a hard time supporting McCain is because if he gets elected he is going to exert the majority of his influence towards the War in Iraq and leave other things by the wayside (eg the economy, healthcare, education, etc). I realize, of course, the incredible threat of radical Islamic extremism; but there are other threats just as real and as we've seen already, when we get too focused on Iraq, we lose sight of other things (eg Afghanistan, Iran, the rising economic power in China, the decline of the dollar, etc). Just a few thoughts.
Cory,
That was the most thought out response I have ever gotten from someone about why they are not for McCain. Thank you for sharing. Honestly, even though he wrapped up the nomination tonight, I am not set on him. I am mostly "Fired Up" and "Ready to GO!"
